Not a lot about this place made sense to the young Scott Burnes. It seemed like some kinda department store for furniture, but one that people seemed to be squatting in- including... himself, considering he'd woken up in a bed there, surrounded by drawings that seemed vaguely familiar. So he'd gone exploring, trying to poke around here and there. One of the rooms had a large turntable in it, and a crate full of records that he'd started poking through. Some of the names he even recognized, vaguely, from hanging around the record store in Reno. He was a little distracted, probably wouldn't notice someone sneaking up on him.
The room also has a lofted bed over a desk with a terrarium (containing a blooming bonsai tree), and a ceiling covered in glow in the dark stars. It's a cute set-up, a little oasis in the chaotic colors and wild maze of the Trojan Housewares.
Oh, and it has a teenager, gangly and dark-haired, grey eyes behind big round glasses. Walking up behind him and clearing (her?) their throat quietly.
The young man startled, barely managing to not drop the record he had in his hands. He turned, totally smoothly and convincingly hiding it behind his back, replying- "Hey- sorry, didn't see you there."
"I'm...pretty sure those are mine. If you want to listen to something, uh, maybe we can do that, but it's not cool to just take them."
There is a little uncertainty, about the matter of ownership. This teen isn't sure how they got here, when they collected those records, but it feels true as they say it. That's what matters, right?
"I wasn't- I was just looking, honest," he stammered, like they were going to believe some ratty kid who had already been caught rummaging through the box.
"These are probably the first thing I actually recognize here. It's... weird."
"I know what you mean. It's the biggest link I have to...anything familiar to me." They leaf through the crate briefly, considering the options. "We could listen to Supertramp. I've got Breakfast in America. Or maybe...Pink Floyd? Dark Side of the Moon. It's a classic."
If the ratty kid is someone who might maybe be a friend? They're not about to turn him away. They're lonely, somewhere deep in their core.
Well, they just went up in coolness rating considerably. Scotty put the record back in the crate to help them look, smiling faintly when they found it.
"I don't think I have anything on me to listen to this with."
"Well, then. You should stay and listen with me. I mean, if you want."
They pull that album out, and set it on the turntable, starting it up and waiting for the music to begin in earnest before they look at him again. "You don't have to, of course, but music like this is better shared, I think."
